Sun Life launches first ETF series on three fixed income funds

Sun Life Global Investments has entered Canada’s $612.6-billion exchange-traded fund (ETF) market with the launch of ETF series on three fixed income funds.

SLGI Asset Management Inc. closed initial offerings for the ETF series units, which began trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange at market open. According to a news release, the three funds offer investors access to specialized portfolio management through sub-advisors MFS Investment Management, SLC Management, and Crescent Capital Group.

The Sun Life Core Advantage Credit Private Pool ETF Series (TSX: SLCA) carries a 0.43% management fee and seeks to provide income while preserving capital through debt securities investments. The Sun Life MFS Global Core Plus Bond Fund ETF Series (TSX: SLGC), also with a 0.43% management fee, pursues total return through investment-grade and non-investment grade debt securities globally.

The Sun Life Crescent Specialty Credit Private Pool ETF Series (TSX: SLSC) charges a 0.70% management fee and focuses on income and capital preservation through non-investment grade high-yield debt securities.

“The launch of our ETF Series marks a new chapter in delivering innovative, flexible solutions to Canadians,” said Oricia Smith, president of SLGI Asset Management Inc. and senior vice-president of investment solutions at Sun Life Canada. “As Sun Life Global Investments celebrates 15 years of growth, this milestone reflects our continued commitment to helping advisors and their clients build holistic wealth solutions.”

The launch comes as Sun Life Global Investments marks 15 years since its establishment as a product manufacturer combining Sun Life’s strength with multi-asset solutions capabilities. The firm has become one of Canada’s largest asset managers for defined contribution pensions and offers both public and alternative asset class solutions through various sub-advisors.

Sun Life Global Investments operates as part of Sun Life’s commitment to helping Canadians achieve lifetime financial security. The parent company manages $1.5 trillion in assets under management globally and maintains a 160-year legacy in financial services.

As of Dec. 31, 2024, SLGI Asset Management Inc. managed $40.95 billion for institutional and retail investors across Canada.
